My Xtreme Hike Story
Courtney Nakagawa
Fundraising for Orange County Xtreme Hike
Courtney Nakagawa
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. In my new role with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I'm aiming to help change that reality.
About Cystic Fibrosis:
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic and progressive, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease as there is still no cure.
About Hike Weekend:
Idyllwild is a paradise nestled in the pines of the San Jacinto Mountains of Southern California. There are 2 designated courses, a 15-mile hike and an 8-mile hike. These hikes are not for the faint of heart... hikers should be prepared for extreme elevation, climbing over boulders, hiking through rivers and of course, lots and lots of nature!
To prepare myself for this physically challenging weekend, I'll be planning a series of training hikes to successfully complete this course.
My Pledge:
This 3-day experience challenges participants to push their limits both physically and philanthropically. My personal pledge is to raise $2,500 to support the foundation's mission of funding research to find a cure. From now until December 31, I will be collecting all CRV-recyclables (aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles marked with the "CA CRV" redemption symbol) to turn in for cash and apply to my fundraising goal. Will you help me?
If you already have plans for your recyclables but would still like to support my fundraising goal, a financial contribution is also greatly appreciated!
Help us accelerate progress... until CF stands for Cure Found!
