There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. When my daughter Shelby was diagnosed at 2 years old, we were told that she would likely not live past the age of 18. Hearing those words made me want to fight hard to change the prognosis for Shelby and for all children born with this deadly disease.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Shelby has been blessed to have had two double lung transplants -- one in 2015 and one in 2020. She is now 27 years old and is working hard to stay as healthy as possible but every day is filled with physical and emotional challenges.
The progress made in battling this disease is been extraordinary. But, while a lot of progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many young people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
Please support me as we continue to fight to turn the letters 'CF' into the words 'Cure Found'!
God bless and FIGHT ON1
