My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Orange County Great Strides 2026
Mike Jelderda
Hello Family and Friends,
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
We are raising money again this year in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis in the hope that a cure will eventually be found to help our 17-year-old son, Ethan, and the thousands of others inflicted with this devastating disease. Your donation, however small, is very much appreciated. If you are unable to donate, I want to thank you again if you donated in the past. I would also like to ask for your prayers that Ethan can one day lead a life free of the concerns that basic illnesses will cause serious lung damage.
There has been tremendous progress in the last few years, and new medications are now available that have helped improve lung function and slow the disease progression in many cases. In 2022, Ethan completed a clinical trial for one of these new medications, Trikafta, which has helped him clear mucus easier and recover from viruses quicker. The drug has now been approved by the FDA and has continued to help Ethan stay healthy. It’s thanks to donations like yours that these advances have been made, and we are so grateful.
Please click the link below to take you to our fundraising page if you are able to make a donation. If your employer matches donations, please check the “Would you like your employer to match?” check box and pick your employer from the dropdown list. You will also need to submit for the match directly with your employer. You will need to upload a copy of your receipt, so save and print the donation confirmation email, or print the donation confirmation page using a “Save as PDF” option. Thank you for taking extra time to do this to maximize your donation!
Thank you so much,
Mike and Shelley
