Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.  There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis (CF).

Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. Paul was very sick with deadly lung infections the first three years of his life. Since 2015, team Paul’s Patrol has raised close to $300,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. These donations have helped develop drug therapies that have drastically improved the quality of life for Paul and many others living with CF. Paul has been taking Trikafta, the latest and greatest drug therapy, for the past 3.5 years. He has significantly less mucus in his body and when he does have a common cold or virus, the mucus that his body produces is significantly thinner thus making his recovery only a matter of days versus weeks. His lung function has remained unchanged and stable for the past year and his sinuses are clear. At 11 years old, Paul is THRIVING and doing things none of us thought would be possible. Trikafta has changed his life and the trajectory of his future! At Paul’s most recent CF clinic visit last month, we learned that his lung function is the highest it's been since starting Trikafta, he was officially given the "ok" to reduce his breathing treatments from twice/day to once/day, and if he continues to remain healthy his CF clinic visits will be reduced from four visits per year to three visits per year. While we wait for a cure, the progress in the past five years alone is tremendous and the future for many patients with CF looks longer and healthier than ever before! When Paul was born in 2013, the life expectancy was in the mid 30's. Now, just 11.5 years later, the median life expectancy for a person with CF is 61 years old!

While incredible progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. As a family, we are committed to fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation until "CF" stands for CURE FOUND and everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

On Sunday, May 18th, Paul will participate in the surf expression portion of the CF Paddle event in Huntington Beach benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. During this event he will do what he loves doing the most (surfing) while raising money and awareness for CF.

Thank you for your support of Paul, team Paul's Patrol and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!
