“Sometimes the place you need to be on Thanksgiving isn’t around the dinner table surrounded by family, friends, and food. It turns out, the place you need to be is in a hospital bed surrounded by doctors, nurses, and beeping machines. Up to that point my life was riddled with a hospital trip here, a surgery there, and two-week long IV antibiotic “tune-ups” every couple of months. 

But it was during that Thanksgiving hospital trip I started the gene-modulating “miracle drug” Trikafta, which doesn’t just address the symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis, but the genetic causes for the disease. Trikafta is the result of money raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation over the course of many years, from massive donations to just a dollar here and there. As of 2024, the CF Foundation has funded more than $500 million in research to make CF stand for “cure found.” 

Now, 6 years later, I can happily say I’ve broken my longest streak out of the hospital - a whopping 928 days!! Thanks to donations (like the one I hope you’re about to make!) the CF Foundation is able to continue to change lives for thousands of people just like me, so we can spend less time in the hospital and more time around the dinner table.”
