Meet Vance – Walking for a Cure
 

My son Vance is 11 years old, and if you met him today, you'd see a happy, active, and determined kid who loves lacrosse, football, and making his friends laugh. What you might not see at first glance is everything he does behind the scenes to stay healthy while living with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Thanks to groundbreaking medications like Trikafta, Vance is doing really well right now. We're incredibly grateful for how far CF treatment has come—Trikafta has been life-changing for him and for our family. But CF is still a progressive, life-shortening disease, and there is still no cure.

Every day, Vance puts in hours of hard work just to maintain his health. He does 3 to 5 breathing treatments daily, takes pancreatic enzymes with every meal and snack, and follows a strict regimen of medications and therapies. These treatments help him breathe easier, digest his food, and fight off lung infections that people with CF are especially prone to.

That’s why we’re walking in Great Strides—and why we’re asking for your support.

We are hopeful because of the progress that has been made, but we know the fight isn't over. There are still thousands of people living with CF who don’t benefit from the latest medications, and even for those who do, treatments are not a cure. Continued research is absolutely essential to improve outcomes, extend lives, and ultimately find a cure for everyone with CF.
