Hello friends. As you know, there is currently NO CURE for Cystic Fibrosis. The miracle medicine that I am on does NOT work for 10 - 15% of us. And for the fortunate 85 - 90% of us it helps live longer, we are still nowhere near reaching our full life expectancy. The heartbreaking part is the children, especially the children who don't benefit from the new medicines. I was devastated when I went to the children's CF center at UCSF for my sweat chloride testing. That is why I am here asking for you to sponsor me in my first ever Great Strides walk for the CF Foundation.
Did you know that the medication that is prolonging my life was developed by funds provided by the CF Foundation? I think that is why the walk is called Great Strides, because they really will put your donation toward the development of a genetic cure that can work for the 10 - 15% that don't benefit from what is available today. Wouldn't it be lovely if the mother of a newborn could be told, "Your child has a genetic condition called Cystic Fibrosis, but don't worry, we have a cure for it now."
