1,000 mile Xtreme Hike
John & Anita Humphries
Fundraising for South Carolina Xtreme Hike
John & Anita Humphries
Our hiking adventures began with the very first Xtreme Hike to Cure Cystic Fibrosis back in 2010. Since then, we have participated in multiple Xtreme Hikes in North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Arizona, and California.
Now, after 15 years of Xtreme Hikes, Anita and I have decided to super-size our 2025 hike. Over the past three years we have section-hiked more than half of the 2,197.4 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Starting in late April we will thru-hike the final 1,000 miles, all the way to Mt. Katahdin in Maine.
Jenny turned 42 in March. To honor her birthday, celebrate the medical advancements that made this birthday possible, and to fund the science that will one day lead to a cure, we are hoping to raise $42,000 through our hike effort. Thanks to a generous match from HEARST, we are already halfway to our goal!
Any donation, from $10 per mile to a penny per mile will help power us through cold, heat and rain, over rocks, roots and mountains, and across rivers. Anita will be posting regular updates on Instagram, so please follow along on our journey at gvl.girl.
Despite all the medical breakthroughs, too many people with Cystic Fibrosis still die too young. Please consider helping us make CF stand for Cure Found.
(The South Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is eligible for many corporate matching funds programs. If your company offers matching funds, please take full advantage of the benefit to increase the impact of your gift.)
