Hi there, my name is Hayes Shearer and my sister, Helen, and I both have cystic fibrosis (CF).

CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. Simply put, CF makes it difficult to breathe and grow. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, and too many people with CF still do not have a treatment to help. I am running to change that reality.

CF Xtreme Hike is a 30-mile course with 5,000 feet of elevation change in the Oconee State Park, South Carolina. Your generous support through the years has funded profound breakthroughs in medical treatments that make this race even possible for me.

My goal is to raise $30,000 for the 30 miles I am running. By donating any amount to my fundraising goal, you will help advance the research and science needed to drive our misison forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
