“Cystic Fibrosis has taught me when life presents the hard way, it’s because it will lead to the best way.”
I’m torn between inspiration and heartbreak when I read this quote from my 16-year-old niece, Kadyn. It’s the type of wisdom that doesn’t come cheap – purchased through profound hardship or earned slowly over a lifetime.
Kadyn’s hardship presented itself the day she was born. Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease – one that takes so much from those who live it with it. CF steals your time, your energy, your breath. And it would take even more, if you let it.
In her school essay, Kadyn goes on to say:
“My illness has and will never take away my spark, my work ethic, or the final say in my life. Cystic Fibrosis may shape the way my life is different from my peers, but I have never once let it dictate my life and what I can do”
May we all choose the same spirit in the face of adversity. And may we all keep fighting for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Every breakthrough in CF treatment, every increase in life expectancy, every moment of hope — they all exist because of people who refuse to give up. People who choose to fight beside warriors like Kadyn.
Your support funds the research, therapies, and innovation that are turning hope into progress.
So let’s keep fighting.
The Great Strides Walk benefiting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is this Saturday, October 11th, at Rutledge Wilson Farm. We appreciate any and all support—reading, sharing, donating, and/or simply spreading the word about Cystic Fibrosis.
If you would like to donate, please follow the link below. If you would like to join us for the walk check-in is at 9:00 am and the walk begins at 10:00 am.
With Love,
Megan, Tim, Ellie, Weller, and Lucy
