Happy 2025!!!! Some may read that statement and their response will be “what is so happy about 2025?” My response to them is everything that you allow yourself to be HAPPY about. As I sit on my front porch listening to the birds’ voices, hearing the vibration of the hummingbirds’ wings as they happily fly by me, enjoying the peacefulness of the nature that surrounds me, I can only say, “how can I not be happy”. Sure life is not a bed of roses all the time, but each of us has the opportunity to make choices on how we handle, approach, and face the challenges and moments that make us question our happiness….
Each individual living with Cystic Fibrosis is faced with a challenge every time they take a breath. Each individual living with Cystic Fibrosis is living with Cystic Fibrosis not because of a choice one made but due to a gene mutation that developed and became part of one’s physical presence during creation. The choice(s) individuals living with Cystic Fibrosis focus on is what am I going to do today to make today HAPPY for me despite the challenges of the cystic fibrosis disease. YOU!!!! Contribute tremendously to the choice options for these individuals through your contributions which provide new and improved resources, such as medications which provide decreased complications from the physical impact of CF. There are multiple gene mutations that create CF in people, so ONE medicine does not work for everyone living with CF. Continued research is needed to develop medications which will make CF stand for CURE FOUND!!!!! For all who live with Cystic Fibrosis.
“Cystic fibrosis, a rare, progressive, life-threatening disease, results in the formation of thick mucus that builds up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other parts of the body. It leads to severe respiratory and digestive problems as well as other complications such as infections and diabetes. Cystic fibrosis is caused by a defective protein that results from mutations in the CFTR gene. While there are approximately 2,000 known mutations of the CFTR gene, the most common mutation is the F508del mutation."
The 2025 Extreme Hike will be my 10th Extreme Hike. HAPPY!HAPPY!HAPPY! A lot of progress has happened over the years with new developments in treatments making life happier for many who live with CF but not for all. I return each year to hike, as a choice, to contribute in a positive way to make a difference in the lives for all who live with CF. My driving force is my niece, Josey, and nephew, Ethan. They are beautiful people inside and out and inspire me to cherish my happiness. I am blessed to have them in my life and look forward to watching their lives unfold in happiness.
I appreciate the support I have received over the last nine years and ask for your continued support! Make a choice today to contribute towards someone else’s happiness, be the difference for someone else in a positive way. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! BE HAPPY!!!!
You can make personal donations online, fundraise.cff.org/vahike/primbey2025 today! We cannot do it without YOU! As their aunt, I can say on behalf of the family, we remain forever grateful for your diligent support and generosity over the years and now. Without you and your help, progress towards a cure would not be as close as it is today.
Happy Trails….
Many Blessings,
Patty
