My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for 15th Annual Xtreme Hike Massachusetts 2026

The Hammel family came into my life over 22 years ago. It was about that time that their youngest, Maeve, was diagnosed with CF. Since then, I have been in constant awe witnessing the amount of love and care, positivity and determination with which they have met each obstacle along the way, always with such grace. I have loved participating in various fundraisers over the years, even if it was just from the sidelines at times, and I still wear my Miles for Maeve t-shirt with pride. The Xtreme Hike Massachusetts seems like another great way to show Maeve and her family how much they mean to me.
There have been amazing advancements in therapies for CF during Maeve's lifetime, thanks to generous donations to research, but there's still work to do. Maeve is thriving, thanks to her dedication to her health and taking the medications that have changed her life and so many others living with CF. Unfortunately, there are some people living with CF who cannot benefit from the modulators, yet, and these therapies are not a cure.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
