My Xtreme Hike Story
Cally Waite
Fundraising for 15th Annual Xtreme Hike Massachusetts 2026
Cally Waite
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
I’m hiking not only to support individuals and families affected by cystic fibrosis, but also to honor my mom’s incredible dedication to this mission over the past 40+ years of her career working at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Growing up, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of her work and the difference this organization makes. Inspired by her commitment, my fiancé and I are combining something we love—hiking—with an opportunity to give back. We’ve recently taken on adventures like hiking in Patagonia, and this challenge feels like a meaningful way to push ourselves while supporting a cause that that matters so much to my family. Any contribution helps advance critical research and care, and I’m so grateful for your support.
