Hi friends and family! I am about to embark on my 5th (5th!) Xtreme Hike for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! So many of you have been so kind and generous over the last 4 years and I can never thank you enough for supporting our efforts to help the CF community. As always, I am hiking not just for my pal Vivien (our team is still Viver's Givers), but for all of my former home infusion CF patients. As a home infusion pharmacist, I managed the home IV therapies for lots of young adults discharging home after yet another CF exacerbation. Each time I thought to myself, "I'm treating someone else's Viv." I always care about my patients, but I found myself unable to stop pulling for my CF patients in a real, emotional, and unyielding way. Please help our Vivien, and everyone else's Vivien, to conquer CF once and for all!
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
