My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for 15th Annual Xtreme Hike Massachusetts 2026
Victoria Jette
James was born in 2001 when median life expectancy for those with CF was 30. We have been witness to and James has benefited directly from the incredible work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the recipients of its investment dollars. Gratitude doesn't even begin to touch how thankful we are to the people who have dedicated their lives/careers to studying and finding a cure for CF. Because of them, James and many others are living healthy lives with bright long futures ahead of them. There is no cure for CF but the modulator James takes, fixes the genetic defect he has at the cellular level. Not all people with CF can take the drug and no one knows exactly how it will work long term. The reality is that with no cure for cystic fibrosis, too many people with CF die young.
I’ve walked, biked, shopped, drank, partied, eaten, organized, gone to yard sales and contributed to others efforts to raise money for the research that goes into finding a cure (and treatments until that day) for cystic fibrosis. This June, The Green Mountain Gang (a group that includes Liz Hamill mother to Maeve who also has CF and was a classmate of James at both MUHS and BC as well as a dedicated group of close family and friends) and I will be hiking 25 miles in the Berkshires, up, down and around Mt Greylock, in our latest effort to do our part to raise awareness and funds for the science needed so all people with CF may live long and healthy lives.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
