Running for my Sister
Fundraising for 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon
Taryn Terrell
When my sister was born in 1987, her life expectancy was just 18 years.
But because of decades of research, innovation, and the generosity of people who believed in something better, she’s now 38.
Her life at 38 is a powerful testament to what’s possible through research, access to treatment, and fundraising efforts driven by hope.
That’s 20 extra years of life.
Twenty years of becoming a nurse, caring for others, making memories, and being the best aunt, sister, and friend.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic, life-shortening disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. It makes it hard to breathe and fight off life-threatening infections—often leading to severe lung damage and respiratory failure.
But thanks to groundbreaking advances, the average life expectancy today is 56 years—and that number keeps climbing.
Who knows what it’ll be by the time she turns 56?
Maybe it’ll be the same as everyone else’s. That’s the goal.
I’m running to help make that happen—for her, and for the thousands of others living with CF who deserve long, full lives.
Will you help us take the next step toward a cure?
Every donation funds research, unlocks treatments, and gives people with CF more tomorrows.
Every step, every dollar, every bit of hope matters
