Growing up with CF, cardio felt like my nemesis. Hours of therapies were spent on clearing out my lungs so I could keep up with friends and peers, but it never felt like enough. Hiking, running, playing - I couldn't keep up.
Since starting on a new medication called Trikafta in January 2020, life with these lungs was never the same. Suddenly I could run, I could dance without coughing, and I could take my sweet dog, Lucy, for hikes. I even found a love for spin classes. Suddenly, cardio felt like freedom.
Because of the incredible work of the CF Foundation, I can look forward to new adventures with deep breaths.
While incredible progress has been made, far too many people don't qualify for Trikafta or other significant therapies. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
