My Great Strides Story

I am walking in memory of my first love, my best friend, Bryan Yaviel Taboas Ferrer. He was diagnosed around 6-9 months old. At just 20 years old, on his birthday, he received the incredible gift of a double lung transplant-a moment that filled us with hope for the future.
Following his transplant, Bryan was excited to embrace the next chapter of his life and after an intense recovery and physical therapy he proposed to me. I was honored and overjoyed to say yes.
Sadly, only three months later, Bryan passed away due to complications from cystic fibrosis that affected his gastrointestinal system. Although his life was far too short, his strength, courage, and love continue to inspire me every day.
I walk in his memory to honor his legacy, raise awareness about cystic fibrosis, and support the ongoing search for a cure so that future generations may have the chance to live longer and healthier.
Bryan Yaviel Taboas Ferrer will be remembered.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, and far too many individuals living with CF lose their lives at a young age.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
