Dear Friends,
On March 1st, I will be running the Cowtown Half Marathon with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This run is deeply personal to me. Every mile I take is in honor of my sister, Mary Beth Heil, and my brother, Robert Fredrick Heil, who both courageously battled cystic fibrosis. Although I never had the chance to meet my sister, as she passed away at the age of four before I came into this world, I know she is always with me and watching over me. And for my brother Bob, my life would not be the same without him. His toughness, his brotherly love, and the way he fought every day shaped me into the person I am today.
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and gradually makes it harder to breathe. I saw firsthand how demanding this disease is and how much strength it requires, not only from those living with CF, but also from the families who love and support them. That experience is what drove me to commit to this race and to raising more than +$2000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to ensure that every person with CF has access to a treatment that addresses the underlying cause of their disease and ultimately a cure. Breakthroughs like Trikafta have brought hope to more than 90 percent of the CF community. Still, about 7 percent of people with CF do not yet have an effective treatment, which makes continued research and support so important.
If you are able (please do not feel obligated), I would be truly grateful if you would consider supporting my run by clicking the Donate with this link -- Donate - Cowtown Marathon 2026. Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact. All donations directly support CF research, care, and education and are fully tax deductible.
Your support helps move us closer to the day when cystic fibrosis becomes Cure Found.
With gratitude,
Tim Heil
