Here I go again- My 9th Xtreme Hike!
Fundraising for North Carolina Fall Xtreme Hike
Heather Smith
If you were there for my first hike, you probably never expected I'd go on to complete eight more — or become a coach. But here I am. I keep showing up because cystic fibrosis (CF) still doesn't have a cure, and far too many people with CF are still dying young. I'm hiking to help change that.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that attacks the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes breathing a daily struggle and fighting infections a constant battle, often leading to severe lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person with CF faces a different journey — but they all deserve the same chance at a long, healthy life. Thanks to research, we’ve made incredible strides, but we’re not there yet. Too many are still waiting.
Will you help us keep fighting?
When you donate to my hike, you're helping fund the science and research that moves us closer to a cure — not just treatment, but a cure for everyone with CF.
Let’s finish what we started.
