My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for North Carolina Fall Xtreme Hike
Gabe Barajas
Hello everyone,
This year I'm dedicating my efforts & energy in Jacob Venditti's honor, memory & spirit. Live Fearlessly was Jacob's motto, mantra & mission. Not only for himself, but more importantly for other CF Warriors. He wasn't going to let the hand he was dealt decide how he was going to live. I think that's such a beautiful message that we all can learn from. He led by example being active in life & encouraged others to do so by his example. Even with 30% lung function he was into surfing, skateboarding, paddleboarding & golf, just to name a few. I met Jacob this earlier this year as we prepared to paddle in an event called the "Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis". An 80 mile endurance challenge in 1-day that goes from the Bahamas to Florida to raise money and awareness for CF Warriors & their families. Jacob's grit & determination was so inspiring. We made it across the Gulf Stream in 12 hours & 53 minutes as a 4-paddler relay. To see the joy that brought Jacob to accomplish that goal was indescribably rewarding. That being said, I encourage you to join me on my journey as I hike this years Fall Xtreme Hike for Cystic Fibrosis & the CF Foundation. 30.1 miles in 1 day on the Appalachian Trail. Together we can make a difference in someone else's life
We can't stop until CF stands for Cure Found š¤š¼
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. Iām hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward ā a cure for everyone with CF.
