My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for North Carolina Fall Xtreme Hike
Marc Roper
Hello Friends, Family and Supporters! I’m excited to be hiking again to support those living with cystic fibrosis and continued research this fall! Your support of this effort over the last five years has been truly amazing and humbling. Together we have raised close to $25,000…Thank you! This cause and these CF Fighters have meant so much to me both personally and professionally for many years. The Xtreme hike has been an incredible way to help and stay connected. If you’re reading this, please reach out so I can tell you more.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
On October 11th, I’ll be hiking 30.1 miles in one shot on a section of the Appalachian Trail here in North Carolina. It should take about 10-12 hours and 60,000 steps. The motivation to get to the finish line will come from all of you and our collective effort to make CF stand for “Cure Found!”
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
