My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for North Carolina Fall Xtreme Hike
Lisa Russell
I first became involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through my close friends and colleagues at Duke Energy. Their personal story and commitment to finding a cure deeply resonated with me, and my relationship with them inspired me to join the cause. What began as a way to support my friends and colleagues has grown into a meaningful, long-standing commitment. Along the way, meeting both those living with CF and families with loved ones impacted by the disease touched me even more deeply and strengthened my resolve to stay involved. Over the years, our ongoing support of the annual gala has strengthened my connection to the Foundation and deepened my passion for raising awareness and funds to support those impacted by CF.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality. What I have seen over the years is how the funds are being leveraged for drugs like Trikafta which is significantly helping increase life expectancy. Trikafta unfortunately doesn't work for everyone with CF so our work to find a cure continues.
On October 11th, we will embark on a one-day, 30.1-mile journey along the Appalachian Trail to raise funds to continue on the journey to curing CF.. We will start at 4:30 AM and complete the trek within 12 to 16 hours. Yes you read that right!
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
