My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for North Carolina Fall Xtreme Hike
Bonnie Titone
Hi all,
I first became connected to the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation when I moved to Charlotte to become the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Duke Energy. The prior CIO's best friend's daughter had CF and he wanted to help with finding a cure and started supporting the Charlotte Chapter via a yearly Gala that the Duke Information Technology team sponsored.
When I took over the CIO helm a leader on the IT team had taken over as the lead supporter of CF within the Duke IT department. While I didn't have a personal connection to CF I wanted to do my best to help support him and the foundation. Six years later were still going strong and supporting CF through the annual gala that keeps getting better and better each year raising more and more money to help find a cure.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. What I have seen over the years is how the funds are being leveraged for drugs like Trikafta which is significantly helping increase life expectancy. Trikafta unfortunately doesn't work for everyone with CF so our work to find a cure continues.
This October I will be hiking 30 miles in 1 day (yeap you read that right, 1 day) to raise funds to continue on the journey to curing CF.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
