Avery’s Army
Welcome to Avery’s Army!
When my daughter Avery was just three weeks old, our world changed forever with a Cystic Fibrosis diagnosis. Those early days were a blur of fear and uncertainty. Her first year was an uphill battle; she was sick constantly and hospitalized twice before she even reached her first birthday. For a long time, "sick" was her normal.
But if you know Avery, you know that "normal" was never going to hold her back.
Today, Avery is 7 years old, and she is a force of nature. She is brilliant, kind, hilarious, and an absolute spitfire. After years of challenges, I am so proud to say she is currently the healthiest she has ever been.
Why We Walk: We aren’t just walking for Avery; we are walking for the science that saved her and all the children and adults like her. When Avery was born, the life expectancy for someone with CF was 47. Today, it is 56. But the real miracle is Trikafta—the medication Avery takes every day. Because of Trikafta, Avery’s life expectancy is now estimated to be between 70 and 80 years old.
This medication only exists because of people like you. Every pill she takes, every breath she draws easily, and every year added to her life is a direct result of donations made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The CFF doesn't receive government funding; they rely on us to fund the research that turns "terminal" into "manageable" and, one day, "cured."
How You Can Help: Avery has done the hard work of fighting to get healthy. Now, it’s our turn to do the work to keep her that way. Please consider joining Avery’s Army by:
-
Donating: Every dollar brings us closer to a cure!!
-
Walking: Join us at Great Strides to show Avery she has a village behind her!
-
Sharing: Help us spread the word!
Thank you for loving Avery and for helping us ensure she has a long, beautiful, "spitfire" life ahead of her.
Until CF stands for “Cure Found”!
