My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Indianapolis Great Strides 2026
Brenda Patterson
Tomorrow my daughter turns 38 years old, and that is something our family never takes for granted.
Since the day she was born, we’ve celebrated her birthday the same way, dinner at her favorite restaurant, Benihana. It’s a tradition we’ve loved for nearly four decades.
Each year we celebrate for the same simple reason: it’s her birthday. And we celebrate with deep gratitude for another year of good health despite cystic fibrosis.
When Katelin was born, the outlook for people with CF was very different than it is today. Because of decades of research and breakthroughs, people with CF are now living longer, healthier lives than ever before. For that, we are incredibly thankful.
On May 3rd, two very special people will join me for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk in Indianapolis, my grandchildren, Mabel (8) and Ozzy (4). This will be their very first CF walk, and they are excited to help raise money for research that continues to change lives.
We’ll be walking as Team Katelin’s Striders, taking every step with gratitude and hope.
We have come so far in treatments for CF, and we truly believe we are getting closer to a cure.
We are walking because every step brings us closer to the day when cystic fibrosis is simply cured.
If your spirit moves you and you're able, we would be grateful for your support. And if donating isn’t possible, please cheer us on. Encouragement means a lot too.
Thank you for being part of the journey. 💙
