From Grandma’s Bike-A-Thon to Today: Fighting CF Together

Fundraising for Indianapolis Great Strides 2026
Michelle Westhuis
I was born with the genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis, and for 47 years I’ve been in this fight—every single day.
My profile photo is from a bike-a-thon my Grandma Klinker organized back in 1983 to help find a cure. She was so passionate about this cause—and raised $150, which felt like a huge victory at the time. 💛
Today, I carry that same determination forward.
There have been incredible advances in treatments that have truly changed lives (including mine), but the reality is this: we’re not done yet.
That’s why I continue to fundraise.
I’m asking for your help to keep pushing research forward—for new medications, better therapies, and ultimately a cure. Every dollar supports the science, the care, and the hope that one day, no one will have to grow up fighting this disease.
If you’re able to give, it truly means the world to me.
Thank you for being part of this fight with me. 💛
