My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Jacksonville Great Strides 2026
Bob Goodholm
I am a Social Worker at a cystic fibrosis (CF) care center in Jacksonville, Florida, and I have dedicated the past six years to supporting individuals and families affected by this complex disease. My work with people living with CF has been profoundly eye‑opening and deeply inspiring.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, life‑shortening illness that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes it difficult to breathe and to fight dangerous infections, often leading to significant lung damage and, ultimately, respiratory failure.
While treatments have advanced dramatically in recent years, there is still no cure for cystic fibrosis. And despite this progress, approximately 6% of people with CF do not benefit from the breakthrough therapies currently available.
Every person born with CF faces a unique and challenging journey. Some experience major improvements thanks to recent medical advancements, while many continue to fight daily for the most basic necessities—air, energy, and stability. Too many people are still waiting for life‑changing options that simply do not exist yet.
We need a cure so that everyone with CF has the chance to live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By contributing to my fundraising goal, you become part of the effort to accelerate research, fuel scientific breakthroughs, and bring us closer to our shared dream—a cure for every person living with CF.
