Dear Family & Friends,
Team Suzy’s Striders is back! On Saturday, May 16th, I will be participating in the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in Jacksonville, FL with family & friends. Each year, thousands of people participate in nearly 300 walks across the country to help advance the mission of the foundation: to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. And this year marks lucky number 13 of Suzy’s Striders! To date, we have raised over $46,000 thanks to the very generous donations of family & friends. This year it is my team’s goal to raise $3,500 and to get there, I am again asking for your support.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a devastating, progressive genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. There are close to 40,000 children and adults living with cystic fibrosis in the United States and an estimated 105,000 people have been diagnosed with CF across 94 countries. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school, and today the median survival age of people with CF born between 2020 and 2024 is predicted to be 65 years!
Our very own Suzy, my mom, was diagnosed with CF as a teenager, and has lived a remarkable life thanks in large part to the CF Foundation’s research. She’s benefited from recent breakthroughs like Trikafta, the first triple-combination therapy that treats the underlying cause of CF. While this has been incredible for my mom, many people with CF still don’t benefit from existing treatments due to advanced disease or specific genetic mutations. That is why continued support is more important than ever to keep this life-saving research moving forward.
I thank you in advance for your support in helping me reach my goal of $3,500 to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their research. Any amount that you can contribute will go a long way for my mom and others. And one day, we will make CF stand for CURE FOUND!
