Fundraising for 28th Annual Massachusetts CF Cycle for Life

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many lives are cut short by CF. CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. I’m cycling to help change that the available treatments and ultimately find a cure for this disease.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While truly remarkable progress has been made in the last 10 years, a difficult and long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made and continues to make a huge difference in the funding for research for treatments and search for a cure.
This year is notable, but not in a good way. This event and all of the CFF cycling, walking, climbing events started with the Cycle for Haylee event in Holliston in 1997. Haylee was our cheerleader and inspiration at the start of most of our rides but the last two years were beyond challenging and too much for her young body to take. She and the many other gone too soon or struggling with CF to breath, to live a normal life are still our inspiration to keep trying.
