My CF Cycle for Life Story
Steven Hedrick
Fundraising for 28th Annual Massachusetts CF Cycle for Life

Our daughter, Kristen, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 13 years old & we were told that the Life Expectancy was 21 years of age. This was heartbreaking to hear & so unexpected because she was so active in sports. Because CF is a genetic disease, our 3 year old daughter, Kate, was also tested & found to have CF as well. Lisa & I and our family began working hard to find a cure for this disease by joining the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and working events to raise money to fund CF Research. This year we celebrated my daughter, Kristen's 49th birthday or as I thank the Lord, her 28th Bonus Birthday! This was made possible because of all the progress we have made in CF treatments. We have raised the CF life expectancy to over 50 years of age and have improved the quality of life of our CF patients. But, not all of the recent improvements help all of those with CF & we have not found a cure. Please help us continue this great progress by supporting our 12:15 Express Team in this year's Ride. All donations, regardless of size, help us get to our goal. Thank you so very much!!
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m cycling to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
