My CF Cycle for Life Story

I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to say for quite some time. Riding in the CF Cycle for Life has always held some special meaning for me. Team GOVBOB welcomed me to the family, when Danielle and I started dating. Kelly Johnson was always the inspiration and guiding light, driving the team. We lost Kelly, November 24, 2024, as she succumbed to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. I can still see her face, bright and early, as she would be there to send off the 65 mile riders. I still love hearing the story about how she rode the 12 mile course, after her double lung transplant in 2015. This team is a family, and we ride toward a common goal.
She fought so hard her entire life, though you may never know, from the smile on her face. To say that Kelly was a fighter, would be an understatement. She defined it, and she lived it. While she may be gone, she will absolutely never be forgotten. She is still the driving force that pushes us to carry team GOVBOB to the next level. Continuing to ride for the cure is important. Advancements in medicine are made every day, extending lives, and adding tomorrows. We will push forward, and “Fight Like a Kelly!”
