A year ago, I shared my personal story of two incredible children who inspire our family every single day—my nephew, KJ, and my niece, Georgia. Though they are on different sides of our family, they share a powerful bond: both were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF), and both face this disease with a strength that leaves us in awe.
KJ, now three years old, continues to take on the world with his fearless spirit and boundless energy. Meanwhile, sweet Georgia celebrated her first birthday this past fall. Watching them grow has been both inspiring and humbling. They face challenges no child should have to, yet their joy, resilience, and laughter shine through every single day.
This past year has also been one of remarkable progress in CF research. Thanks to groundbreaking advancements and the relentless efforts of the CF Foundation, we are closer than ever to life-changing treatments—and ultimately, a cure. Knowing that real change is happening fuels my passion to continue this fight, not just for KJ and Georgia, but for every person living with CF.
That’s why, once again, I’m stepping up to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by participating in a fundraiser walk. Every dollar raised brings us closer to the day when CF is a thing of the past. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
