Hiking for Sophia: Raising Funds for a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis
 

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, and too many people with CF still die young. I'm hiking this extreme trail to help change that reality-for my daughter Sophia and for everyone fighting this disease.
 

Sophia is our precious 2-year-old toddler, bursting with energy, love, and joy. She lights up every room with her big smile, loves to swim, dance, and sing at the top of her lungs. Because of the groundbreaking medications developed through research funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Sophia is expected to live a full, healthy life. She is a benefactor of these life-changing drugs, and we are incredibly grateful.
 

Sophia has a genetic mutation that is less severe than what many others face-but that's only possible because of the medication she takes every day. Far too many people with CF still don't have access to effective treatments. CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes breathing difficult, fighting infections a constant battle, and often leads to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Every person with CF is on a unique and challenging journey.
 

While incredible progress has been made, a long road remains for so many families. We need a cure so that everyone with CF-regardless of their mutation-can live long, healthy lives filled with dancing, singing, swimming, and all the adventures childhood should hold.
 

That's why I'm taking on this extreme hike in honor of Sophia. As her dad, I want to do my part to raise awareness and critical funds to support research that will help every person battling CF.
