This year I’ll be joining my friend Ray for a 19-mile hike through the Palo Duro Canyon in Texas to honor someone who has inspired me for a long time: Ray’s wife Rebecca. The photo on this page is a throwback to one of our hikes together... Ray, Becca, and I. It’s a reminder of the strength and determination she has carried since I've known her.

I’ve known Becca since our UConn days, back when she and Ray first started dating. Over the years, I’ve watched her face challenges that most of us can barely imagine, with grit, humility, and an unwavering will to live. In the past decade alone, she has undergone both a double lung transplant and a kidney transplant. Her strength has impacted countless people around her, including me, and this hike is a small way for me to show support and help carry the fight forward.

There is still no cure for cystic fibrosis, and too many people with CF continue to suffer and die far too young. I’m hiking to help change that reality. Your donation will support critical research and programs that move us closer to a cure.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, life-shortening disease that severely affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often causing progressive lung damage and respiratory failure. Every person with CF experiences it differently, but for far too many families, the road is still long and devastating.

This hike will be a challenge, but it won’t come close to what Becca, and so many others living with CF, have had to endure. I’m honored to take on this adventure in her name.
