My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for North Carolina Spring Xtreme Hike
April Veeneman
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic, life-shortening disease that severely impacts the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes breathing difficult and fighting infections a constant battle, often leading to significant lung damage and respiratory failure. While every person with CF experiences this journey differently, one thing remains the same: we need a cure.
There are close to 40,000 children and adults living with cystic fibrosis in the United States (and an estimated 105,000 people have been diagnosed with CF across 94 countries), and CF can affect people of every racial and ethnic group. My family is personally affected by this disease and I have come to know many more CF Fighters as I've worked with this organization over the years - making finding the cure more important than ever.
That's why I'm training to hike over 30 miles in a single day-to raise awareness and help move us closer to a future without CF. Tremendous progress has been made, but there's still a long way to go for far too many people living with this devastating disease.
Together, we can make a difference. Will you join me in the fight to end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
