My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Boston Great Strides 2026
Ginny Martins
I am walking in memory of my nephew, Brian C. Long, and in support of everyone still fighting Cystic Fibrosis today.
Brian was diagnosed with CF at just 9 months old, and our family was told he likely would not live past 12 or 14 years old. Thanks to incredible determination, medical advances, research, and the unwavering support of so many people, Brian lived to celebrate his 51st birthday.
But anyone who knew Brian also knew that his life was not defined by CF. He was strong, funny, courageous, determined, and deeply loved. He became a powerful advocate for the CF community and gave so much hope to others living with this devastating disease.
This cause is especially meaningful to our family because Brian’s dad helped start the Boston Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Walk with the Massachusetts State Police many years ago. Now, we continue walking in Brian’s memory and in honor of his legacy, with the hope that one day no family will have to live with the daily fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak that comes with Cystic Fibrosis.
This year, I am also walking in support of my fellow Realtor and former colleague, Lynne Grden, who is courageously awaiting her second double lung transplant. Her strength is a powerful reminder of why continued research, awareness, and support matter so much.
Please consider joining us for the CF Great Strides Walk in Boston on Sunday, May 17, 2026, or making a donation to support Team #blongstrong.
Every step, every dollar, and every act of support helps move us closer to a cure.
Thank you for supporting something that means so much to our family. 💙
