I’m not fast — not even remotely — but I’ve got a great pair of running shoes and a mindset that won’t let me quit. That should be enough to put 10 miles under my legs, right?

Truthfully, I’m not entirely sure. But what I do know is that I’ve been able to do some pretty incredible things in my life — like becoming a pseudo-expert in one topic and informing an entire community in the span of eight hours, running a 5K while wearing a 40-pound sousaphone or, my proudest accomplishment, eating nine bowls of chili in one sitting.

But this time, it’s not about me (or my chili).

I’ve decided to run the Twin Cities 10 Mile for those sitting in hospital rooms who smile ear to ear at the smell of fresh air. For those with PICC lines pumping antibiotics into their blood to fight infections. For those who decorate their hospital rooms with Spider-Man party decorations and celebrate their birthdays not with friends, but with the nurses they know far too well.

I’m doing this because I’ve been there.

Cystic fibrosis is no easy battle, and it’s not pretty by any means. If I’m in a position to raise money for kids and adults who, like me, are fighting the same battle, you better believe every fiber in me is going to do what it can to help.

Please consider donating any amount you’re able so the kids with the Spider-Man party decorations can one day run the Twin Cities 10 Mile.

Thank you.

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young.

CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.

Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?

By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
