My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for Grand Canyon Summer Xtreme Hike
Tara Alauf
In May I will be hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim (24 miles!) in one day to raise money and awareness for cystic fibrosis. And we need your help! As most of you know Kendall (13) was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a newborn. CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Kendall has made tremendous strides in her health since birth but this is because of fundraisers and donations from people like you! We've been able to put her on more advanced medications and treatments and she no longer is tube fed and is overall much healthier. Although she has not been hospitalized in over 2 years and has been able to cut back some of her meds, she still takes upwards of 30 pills per day and is still doing her chest PT daily.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I'm hiking to help change that reality. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
