My Great Strides Story

Mama to sweet Jack, our boy with CF. Whether it's reading books to him during vest treatments or dashing for pancreatic enzymes before he scarfs down a snack or meal, mothering a child with CF has been a learning curve. I am grateful to see God's hand in his story, caring for Jack beyond what I can provide for him alone and making sure he has been taken care of since day 1 with no significant weight loss even before we knew his diagnosis. Truly the community and support we've gotten from so many of you has been a GIFT as well, and so I want to keep sharing my story, my son's story, as a testament to the beauty of community and the depth of God's care.
When we received the hard news of Jack's diagnosis, it was also delivered with a lot of hope - there have been great strides in CF research in recent years and Jack will receive great care because of this! But it isn’t over. If you, like me a year ago, are wondering what cystic fibrosis is and what this walk is all about, read below to learn more:
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. We’re walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
