A CF Mom's Great Strides Story

Imagine having a baby and being told their life expectancy at just 14 days old. What should have been a time filled only with excitement and dreams for the future suddenly became overshadowed by fear and uncertainty. The weight of the world felt like it was just placed on my shoulders at the realization Luke had cystic fibrosis. Having a child with CF is a continuous learning experience. In an instant, my role as a parent expanded far beyond what I had imagined. I was now responsible for managing a complex medical condition that would affect every aspect of his life. There has never been a clear rhyme or reason to how Luke’s body responds to the disease or to the treatments designed to manage it. Medical care is not simply important; it is essential to maintaining his health and quality of life.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
