My Xtreme Hike Story

Fundraising for North Carolina Spring Xtreme Hike 2026
Dallas Crowe
In February 2025 our family was unexpectedly tossed into the world of Cystic Fibrosis. Our daughter Ellie has had an interesting first year of life. Adjusting to treatments and medications, blood draws, frequent doctor visits, and two hospital stays is a lot for a little baby. Through it all she has maintained her happy demeanor and is tougher than most adults. Her resilience and strength has been inspiring to us. She deserves a cure! So does every CF warrior out there. Being a parent and watching your child go through this is helpless feeling. That is why I'm hiking for Ellie, everyone fighting this battle, and their caregivers. It is one thing I can do to contribute to finding a cure! We are grateful to everyone who has supported our family through the hard times and continue to do so every day!
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
