My Xtreme Hike Story - Bring the Whole Thing of Ibuprofen
Nathan Anderson
Fundraising for North Carolina Spring Xtreme Hike 2026
Nathan Anderson
Vic and I have signed up to hike 30.1 miles of the Appalachian Trail IN ONE DAY on May 2nd to raise money to support the North Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Our team, "The One-Horned Wonders Vintage '99", harkens back to our days at NCSSM and we would like to invite you to virtually join us on the North Carolina AT by donating!
Rare diseases are those that affect fewer than 1 in 2,000 people and cystic fibrosis (CF) is one of the most well-known ones, with an estimated 105,000 people diagnosed worldwide. During the 1950s, a child with CF rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Today, thanks to decades of research focusing on the development of airway clearance therapies, inhaled medicines, pancreatic enzyme supplements, fitness programs, and CFTR modulators targeting the underlying genetic mutation, many people with CF are achieving their dreams of attending college, pursuing careers, getting married, and having kids. However, there is still currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
