My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for North Carolina Spring Xtreme Hike
Jessica Honeycutt
When I first signed up for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike, my main goal was simple: I wanted to challenge myself. Thirty miles in one day sounded like an incredible physical test — and the fact that it supported a great cause was just a bonus. Honestly, at the time, I didn’t know much about cystic fibrosis. I only knew that a friend of mine was passionate about hiking for her nephew who has CF, so I joined her team without really knowing what I was signing up for!
Fast forward two years, and I’m gearing up for my third Xtreme Hike — this time as a coach, helping new hikers prepare for the physical and mental challenge of the trail, as well as the fundraising that fuels the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s vital work.
What started as a personal challenge has turned into something so much more meaningful. Along the way, I’ve met incredible people who live with CF or love someone who does, and their stories have inspired me beyond words. Now, every mile I hike and every dollar I raise feels like a step closer to a future where CF stands for Cure Found.
