Sometimes you find yourself saying yes to something that scares you a little… that’s where I am right now. This spring, I’ll be hiking 30.1 miles on the Appalachian Trail as part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike. It’s a challenge that’s both physical and personal… one that will take months of training, discipline, and heart.

I’m hiking as part of Reece’s Monkeys… a team inspired by our friends April and Brent, whose son Reece was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was young. We met them years ago when our sons were on the soccer field together, and our families have been close ever since. Thanks to incredible advancements, people with CF are living longer, healthier lives… but not everyone benefits from today’s treatments, and there’s still work to be done until CF stands for Cure Found.
I’ll be starting this journey just days after knee surgery, working my way from crutches to 30.1 miles by May. It’s going to take grit, patience, and a lot of miles… but every step and every dollar helps make a difference for kids like Reece and everyone living with CF… pushing research, treatments, and hope forward.
