My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for North Carolina Spring Xtreme Hike 2026
SUSAN MARTOCCIA
There is still no cure for cystic fibrosis, and too many people with CF are taken far too young. For me, this fight is personal. My daughter-in-law, Sarah, was born with CF — and she meets it every day with courage, grit, and a laugh that can take over an entire room. (Seriously, once she gets going, there’s no stopping her.)
CF makes everyday life harder in ways most of us never have to think about, especially when it comes to breathing and staying healthy. Every person with CF has their own journey, but everyone deserves the same thing: a long, full life without this disease setting the limits.
That’s why I’m hiking — to help change what the future looks like for Sarah and for everyone living with cystic fibrosis.
Will you help us end CF?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you’re helping bring us closer to a cure — and to a future where Sarah can spend less time fighting CF and more time laughing!
