When Bowie was just two weeks old, we received the phone call that changed our lives forever: he had cystic fibrosis. We were terrified. Thanks to the incredible care at Rady Children’s Hospital, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and decades of research funded by families and supporters just like you, Bowie is now a healthy, happy, thriving 11-year-old. Every day, we are reminded that this progress happened because people chose to care.

But our work isn’t finished.

While treatments have transformed countless lives, there is still no cure. Not everyone with CF can benefit from today’s therapies, and too many children and adults continue to face a shortened future. That’s why we continue to show up every year.

On September 20, we’ll gather at Seaside Reef in Encinitas for Surf for CF—a day filled with surfing, community, laughter, and hope. It’s one of our favorite days of the year because it reminds us that we’re never fighting this disease alone.

By joining Bowie’s Brigade, you’re doing more than participating in an event. You’re helping fund lifesaving research, supporting families navigating a CF diagnosis today, and bringing us one step closer to the day when every person with cystic fibrosis can live a long, healthy life.
