This year marks my 11th year participating in the Xtreme Hike. I joined to hike along side of Chris and was quickly welcomed into an incredible community. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation represents individuals living with CF and the families and friends who support them. Together this community is fighting to raise money and awareness of this rare, life-shortening, genetic disease. While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short.

As I hike these 30.1 miles, I will carry the memory of Chris with me. All of our hikes, all of his quips and encouragement, all of his love for me, for Andrew and our entire community. I will carry the memory of Jan who lived a most adventurous life while facing the daily challenges that come from CF. I will carry the memory of Pete who did not waste time on suffering but reminded all around him to simply #dobettertoday. I will carry the love that has surrounded Andrew and I these past four years knowing that each step makes us stronger.
