My Xtreme Hike Story
Danielle Miller
My son Wade who will soon be 5 years old, was diagnosed with CF during his newborn screening, this event holds a special place in my heart. Every dollar raised brings researchers closer to breakthroughs that can transform the lives of children like Wade and their families, offering hope for a brighter, healthier future.
In addition to the significance of the cause, the reason I have chosen the location of Yosemite for the Xtreme Hike is for its emotional power. The stunning natural beauty of the park contrasts with the ongoing struggle against CF, yet it serves as a reminder of the perseverance and strength needed to face these challenges.
For myself, participating in the Xtreme Hike for CF in October is a way to channel my love and determination to help Wade and others living with the condition. It’s a way to give hope in a future where CF no longer limits life’s possibilities. Through this event, I will not only be honoring my son, but also helping others affected by CF, working towards a world where a cure is within reach.
For those that do not know what Cystic Fibrosis is it is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
