My Breathe Team Story
Fundraising for 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Lucas Allen
I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 18 months old. Since then, my life has been a rollercoaster of extreme highs and lows. Throughout my adolescence, I was told that certain things would never be possible for me; I began to put limits on myself and listened to the critics who defined my boundaries.
Everything changed during the Covid-19 pandemic. I started running, and since that first mile, I have clocked thousands more and completed three full marathons—most recently the NYC Marathon in 2024.
Running gave me the conviction that I can do hard things. The limitations I once accepted no longer feel so constricting. Today, I am a proud father and I'm ready to lace up my shoes once again for the Chicago Marathon this October.
I run to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, but also to prove that living with CF has made me strong and resilient. In many ways, this journey has made me fearless.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
